Forward letter to friends

Dear Friends,

I have just signed this submission to encourage the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, Mr Tony Burke, to protect the remaining population of the endangered Southern Cassowary left in Far North Queensland.

Their habitat is being fragmented for residential development both in the Daintree and Mission Beach, pushing them closer towards extinction every day. The cassowary is a keystone species that plays a vital role in the upkeep of rainforest diversity by dispersing over 150 species of rainforest seeds. Now, there could be as few as 1000 cassowaries left.

Please ask Mr Burke to commit funding towards protecting the remaining Cassowary habitat in the Daintree and Mission Beach before itŐs too late.

Please visit www.savethecassowary.org.au/take-action.php, sign and send the submission, forward it through your networks, then pat yourself on the back for helping protect an important endangered species and its world heritage valued rainforest habitat in a time when we need to protect every piece of rainforest left on the planet.
